If you’re into anime or manhwa you already know this series. But if you don’t, it’s one of the hottest urban fantasy series happening currently. At some point I’ll do a proper official review of the story. But that’s not what this is about.
I’ve been enjoying the anime version. I wanted to read the manhwa and even the light novels as well. Yen Press has the light novel that I’ll eventually get to on my dear Kobo reader. But what about the manhwa? Well as it turns out that as I’m writing this post you can read the original manhwa on Tappytoon, Manta, and Tapas.
However where should any of us be reading this series if we want to? Naturally if you’re a regular reader on one particular app that’s what you go with. Though I am someone who uses all 3 apps. Or maybe you want to be a frugal reader. Like you are willing to pay money to read this series, but you want to pay as little as possible.
Well I do have the answer. I won’t drag it out. The answer is Tapas. However if you’re curious to see the math, I’ll explain in the next section.
Let’s see that math
Solo Leveling consists of 179 chapters and then 21 Epilogue/Special episodes for a total of 200 chapters. According to Tapas, I only need to use 55,554 ink (their currency) to get all of the locked chapters. Tappytoon meanwhile requires you to spend 53,220 points (their currency). Manta has a lot of titles free to read once you’ve signed up to the subscription. However there are some titles that require to pay with gems to unlock and purchase that content. You need to get 804 gems.
So for this experiment let’s say you don’t any of these apps currently and now your whole reason for getting any of these apps is because you want to read Solo Leveling. Which app is the one you spend the least? Let’s also assume you’re only going to spend money to buy the app currency purely for Solo Leveling.
For Tapas, the easiest thing to do is spend $49.99 and getting the 40,000 ink tier, which also comes with a bonus 20,000 ink! Meanwhile for Tappytoon, you need to actually buy two point packages: $49.99 for 46,000 points and then $9.99 for 8,000 points. As for Manta? You would need to spend $61.97 to get 3 different packages to get 810 gems, which makes this the most expensive option.
So clearly it makes way more sense to go with Tapas! The key is the bonus ink you get in every tier except for the first one, which is 1,600 for $1.99.
Final Thoughts
I’ve been zipping my way through the manhwa version of Solo Leveling. I’m going to hold off on reading the sequel series considering it’s new and still in progress.
Have you watched Solo Level the anime? What about the manhwa or the novel? If you’ve done any of these things leave a comment about what you think of the series?]!
Is the Tapas Offerwall safe?
