Welcome everyone to the latest installment of React With Me - The Top Dungeon Farmer edition! Well this is the 13th part of 20 parts that make up season 1 of the webtoon.
At some point, season 2 will be back. I will at some point in the future be doing a “React with Me” as well. However unlike with season 1, it won’t be back to back every week. Rather I’ll have to either just do it after every 5 chapters released or possibly wait a bunch of chapters to come out just so I can have a whole month (3 or 4 Sundays in a row) to do season 2. At any rate, I’ll make a decision when the time comes. Onwards to the commentary!
Chapter 61
It’s nice to see that Sejun is getting a proper house! It’s also really nice to see how everyone is getting along and working together to achieve things on the 99th floor. The fact Beh can now shrink at will is a really shocking development. I imagine there could be some advantages that in the future now that this happened.
Chapter 62
It’s really sad, but fascinating that Beh’s size control is because of his subconscious desire to stay small and loved by his “dad.” It’s a really thoughtful idea to include in the story. There are people who probably wish they could stay young and carefree forever if possible.
I think it’s hilarious that Teo thought he could hide his “crime” of accidentally taking the new sweet potato strain that Sejun grew. Though inadvertently it will help that elder hunter who keeps being set on fire. We get the backstory he was unable to defeat a monster in the Tower. As a result he was cursed. The solar sweet potatoes can temporarily tamper the curse, which would give him a chance to go back to the Tower for round two with that boar.
The chapter ends with a reminder of how ignorant and naive Teo really is. He doesn’t recognize Iona the hamster, who is the most powerful mage in the Tower. She’s also got a short fuse, which was nearly triggered because Teo argues with her over a ring that might be something really valuable.
Chapter 63
Teo’s cluelessness continues to be somewhat amusing though at times annoying if I’m being annoying. But it’s interesting to see how Iona is added as new member of the cast of characters in this story.
We get a glimpse of the suspect food company exec still trying to grow crops for sale in the Tower. However they inadvertently create a monster cherry tomato plant. This couldn’t possibly be a problem that’ll bite them in the butt later. Nope not at all. Absolutely not!
Like a typical corporation, they decide to use these new monsters as a literally XP farm by allowing them to propagate so people can easily earn XP by killing them. Yeah this can’t possibly bite them in the ass later. ABSOLUTELY NOT!
The chapter ends with a peaceful scene back at the farm. The third honeybee queen hatched. It’s nice to know there’s going to be plenty of honey and other bee made products on the farm. They certainly could use more bees given how they keep expanding the farm with growing more crops and redeveloping the land. And then Sejun gets inked by a squid. Wait.. what?
Chapter 64
I can’t lie. This chapter makes me want to get some calamari or something. All that tasty squid dishes. Yum. I find it kind of suspicious that Father rabbit is feeding his wife. That’s not to say it’s not cute or nice when your spouse feeds you. But he has done this mostly when she’s pregnant. Oh boy.
We get a reminder of the locust crisis when we see access to the pathways is restricted and require permission. Hopefully this gets resolved soon! Conveniently back at the farm they discover another new strange crop. It seems there are a few green onions that have become Blade green onions. They’re hard to cut and are in fact sharp as blades themselves. Could this help with the locusts?
Then Aileen finally contacts Sejun and explains the locust situation. Mama Rabbit nearly faints from shock and that’s when we get confirmation more baby rabbits will be coming to the farm soon. It’s a little much that just this one rabbit couple is creating a new population of rabbits on the 99th floor. Aside from the the gray rabbits, if these rabbits stay on the 99th floor, they’ll need more rabbits to show up or else everyone is related to each other! But I digress.
Sejun and the gang agree to help Aileen however they can, which is honestly heartwarming. Conveniently Teo arrives with Iona. No doubt they’ll also be discuss the locust situation.
Chapter 65
I think it’s amusing how Iona misunderstands the situation to Sejun’s advantage. She’s understandably skeptical of him given she can’t detect much magic from him. However the surprisingly peaceful co-existence of normally rival monsters makes her think Sejun might be capable of a lot more than he appears. Especially as she discover the magic item crops he and the rabbits have been growing. And after some experimentation with a few locusts that Iona had captured, the Blade Green onions do work!
Meanwhile we see the former cursed hero getting the sweet potatoes. Soon he’ll be fighting a monster boar for round two. I can’t wait!
