Also before I continue with Chapter 46-50, I just want to remind readers that next Sunday will be the first Sunday of June. That means I’ll be posting a post for the regular Talk Nerdy to Me newsletter. The following Sunday after that will be back to React with Me.
Chapter 46
This chapter does a pretty good job following up on a plot point that came up in recent chapters. Now that people have become aware of who is responsible for growing these crops, it won’t take long for people to figure out who his family is. I can appreciate that the Korean Awakened association is taking this seriously and trying to help his family. Can I say I do wish we got a glimpse once in a while how Sejun’s family is doing?
We see Aileen is trying to cook a dish for Sejun. I’m not overly optimistic about this considering who is the chef and what she’s like.
We see there’s some new progress at the farm. His green onions have become a new crop called “Detoxifying leek.” I can picture this has potential as an antidote to poison. We quickly realize why this crop was introduced because Aileen presents Sejun her health soup and it’s disturbing as anything Shion from TenSura could create.
It doesn’t help that there’s no longer and creatures in the cave pond that was the main source of protein for everyone.
Chapter 47
Sejun tries to drink the disgusting soup. You are crazier and braver than I am, Sejun. Of course he freaks out seeing all the other ingredients in the disgusting concoction and accidentally drops it in the pond. It’s puzzling to see notifications saying he’s killed other creatures with the soup when there’s nothing in the pond. A clue?
The pond is also temporarily poisoned. Annoying. However it’s clear that the mystery hole truly is the reason why fish was even in the pond in the first place. Now there’s an idea of trying to explore the other side of the hole and bring back more seafood to the pond again.
I have to give Black bunny a lot of credit. He’s a brave warrior rabbit indeed. He wants to do the exploring if it means giving his family back extra food sources. But Sejun is a good uncle not wanting his rabbit nephew to risk himself while the pond is poisoned. Plus they don’t know what could be in the hole.
The Minotaur king finds it suspicious that 1003 and 1004 have been gone for a long time. He decides to investigate. And when he arrives at the farm, he promptly charges at them. The heck?
Chapter 48
Of course just like 1003, he promptly eats some of the onion leaves and essentially steals all the leaves he can carry back to his territory. Sejun isn’t happy about this, but he’s not angry. Oh no. He senses an opportunity similar to 1003 coming up ahead.
While they eat their lunchtime meal, Teo and the two minotaurs arrive with unconscious wolves. Just as Teo is about explain the info he got from Dongshik, the wolves steals the straw hat.
I can appreciate the continued progression of the plot. I sometimes get confused how much or how little time has passed in this story if I’m being honest. But it seems a lot has happened in just a few months.
Chapter 49
Fortunately the wolves can’t run off with the hat because so many allies of Sejun’s surround them. It says a lot of how important Sejun has become that so many monsters are working together despite normally being antagonistic towards each other. Of course this convinces the wolves that Sejun must really be the Black Dragon. There’s no other logical reason why such powerful beings would listen to a puny human. Nice job getting a cover story there, Sejun.
I think it’s interesting that Aileen actually approves of Sejun being treated as the Great Black Dragon. Possibly he can do certain things she’s unable to do for some reason that hasn’t been fully explained. It also probably gives him some additional protection.
I still think it’s hilarious how Sejun is able to trick monsters into serving under him by charging them money for inconveniencing him. It’s pretty manipulative, but works I guess. I do think it’s good that we get more backstory about what is happening on the 85th floor. Which also explains why the wolves are so determined to get the hat back for Greede.
Of course, Sejun is a good guy and he offers to provide food to the wolves to feed everyone there. Regardless of the questionable thing Sejun is doing tricking monsters to work for him, he’s demonstrating he’s also a far more generous person than Greede. I’m going to be curious to see the eventual confrontation between these two Farmland owners in the Tower.
Chapter 50
Even I have to say that I’m super impressed with whatever unconscious ability Teo has at picking random items to buy. Miraculously his purchase of a random necklace winds up helping out a lot! I’d be curious to see whatever uses they get out of it in the future.
I also think it’s really fascinating that an ocean or a sea exists between the floors of the tower. I wonder if this will get explore more in later chapters.
